Kya Khoya Kya Paya by AB Vajpayee

Sihran jaante ho kya hoti hai?

Listen to this poem and know it in your heart that your soul pays attention as well. The goosebumps you then feel is what ‘sihran’is.

This work of art is a haunting combination of the undeniable brilliance of the pillars of poetry. Written by India’s former Prime Minister, social activist and noted poet, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the poem has a strange peaceful kind of enigma that shall burn you in solitude. The timeless voice of legend Jagjit Singh,  the preface written by Javed Akhtar and presented by Amitabh Bachchan, makes this poem a true gem for poetry enthusiasts. The word ‘soulful’ has been redefined.

Lyrics:

Kya Khoya Kya Paya Jag Mein
Milte aur bichadte pag mein
Mujhe kisi se nahi shikayat
Yadhyapi Chala gaya pag pag mein
Ek Dristi beeti per daale
Yaadon ki potli tatole

Apne hi maan se Kuch bolein (x 2)

Prithvi Lakho Varsh Purani
Jeevan Ek Annant Kahani
Per Tan ki apni seemaye
Yadhyapi Sua sardon ki vani
Itna kabhi hai Anteem Dastak per
Khud Darwaza Khole

Apne hi maan se Kuch bolein (x 2)

Janam Maran ka Abhivat Phera
Jeevan Banjaro ka Dera
Aaj yahan Kal kahan kuch hai
Kaun Janta Kidhar Savera
Andiyara Aakash aseemit
Parno ke pankhon ko taule

Apne hi maan se Kuch bolein (x 3)

  1. a small correction – i think in the second line the word is “मग” (cross-roads), so the line goes “मिलते और बिछड़ते मग में”
